INVISALIGN

More than 20 years of experience

Invisalign is a method of correcting orthodontic malocclusions with a series of clear aligners. It was developed in response to patients’ wishes for completely invisible and removable orthodontic treatment.

Although advertised as new and revolutionary, the modern Invisalign® is a form of the original technique from 1997 with significant improvements in all stages of the process and continuous refinement. Although there are cheaper versions of the system on the market, the Invisalign® 3D digital application is superior to the competition in its precision, which allows orthodontists to control the movement and final position of each individual tooth. Invisalign® has made the biggest technological breakthrough in the material from which the aligners are made: SmartTrack® is a patented material that allows the aligner to apply a gentle, constant force to the teeth. It fits snugly around your teeth, while moving them slowly, but still faster and more predictably compared to other materials. No cheaper version, foreign or local, can compare in efficiency and accuracy to Invisalign®.

How it works:

  1. The treatment plan is set by the orthodontist based on diagnostic data: clinical examination, analysis of orthopantomograms and lateral craniograms (in case of the need for growth monitoring and modification) and gnathometric analysis. If it is possible to treat the malocclusion with Invisalign®, the orthodontist takes impressions or scans of the teeth and sends them to the Invisalign® centre. There, a 3D digital application based on the orthodontist’s detailed guidelines simulates the movement of teeth from the initial to the desired position in several stages, with absolute control over the position of the teeth in all three dimensions. The degree of the anomaly and the set goal determine the number of phases, the number of aligners, and thus the price of the treatment.
  2. Clincheck® is a 3D computer simulation of tooth movement that the Invisalign® Centre sends to the orthodontist for revision and supplementation or finishing. This phase is extremely important because the orthodontist can, for example, identify tooth movements simulated by the Invisalign® Centre that are not biomechanically possible and correct the treatment plan.
  3. After the orthodontist confirms the Clincheck®, aligners are manufactured and sent to the orthodontist.
  4. We give the aligners to the patient along with detailed instructions for wearing, then we agree on the following check-ups.

Advantages of Invisalign® in relation to a fixed orthodontic appliance:

  • It is almost invisible.
  • The patient can remove the aligners without anyone’s help, with complete freedom and control.
  • The aligners are removed before meals, so there are no food restrictions.

Disadvantages
of the Invisalign® are:

  • Although the patient can remove them, the aligners must be worn consistently for 20-24 hours a day, otherwise they do not achieve the desired effect.
  • It is not possible to eat with the aligners on. The patient should remove them before meals and brush the teeth and the aligners before putting them back in.
  • Even though their appearance is superior to other appliances, the aligners do affect your speech.

It should be noted that Invisalign® gives the patient absolute freedom, but it is also an obligation. The fixed appliance “works” without the patient having to think about it, while the aligners must be inserted and removed by the patient and worn for the prescribed number of hours because otherwise, they do not work. Ultimately, the decision should be based on the patient’s lifestyle.

Invisalign® is a reliable and aesthetically superior method of straightening the teeth.
